Job Description

General Manager : The essentials.  
• The drive and determination to grow the business through personal effectiveness, hence leading by example. 
• A consultative approach to dealing with clients. 
• The ability to liaise and present at board level of large corporates. 
• Commercially astute. 
• The ability to initiate and drive through positive change and improvements. 
• CANDIDATES WITHOUT A BACKGROUND IN WORK BASED LEARNING OR TRAINING WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. 

General Manager : Your experience. 
• A sound track record within work based learning and training. 
• A well established career at senior managerial or director level within work based learning. 
• A good knowledge of funding rules. 
• Experience of funded training through DWP / Big Lottery, managing ESF funding and the administration required to support. 
• The ability to write effective tenders. 
• Experience in the management of profit & loss, setting budgets, marketing and sales strategy. 
• A detailed understanding of what is entailed when offering apprenticeship programmes to employers. 
• Demonstrable abilities in performance management and achieving quantifiable results. 


General Manager : The desirables.  
• Experience of running your own training company. 


 General Manager : The organisation.  
• With over a 100 years combined experience within training this Midlands based company pride themselves on quality training within the rail industry. They offer safety critical training, PTS and NVQ's and apprenticeships to name a few. Their turnover in the past 3 years has achieved over £5 million and due to new contracts been awarded their expansion will continue. They can boast that they have and continue to work with some of the top players in the industry and their combined knowledge and expertise in the field strengthens the company to generate more business. 


General Manager : The role. 
• Oversee the smooth and effective running of a training organisation that offers commercial training and apprenticeship programmes within in a very niche sector. 
• Investigate the operational systems and procedures to identify where improvements could be made to enhance both operational efficiency and to maximise the productivity of the training professionals. 
• Identify and recruit additional team members who will support and enhance the company's portfolio of training programmes. 
• Visit clients to forge stronger relationships and through effective questioning identify needs and then offer a tailored solution in a consultative manner. 
• Source funding that is available and secure it. 
• Collate and analyse reports for presentation to the board. 
• £45,000 - £60,000 depending on experience and previous achievements 
• 28 days holiday per annum, plus an additional day for every year of service 
• Life assurance

• Lap top and mobile phone 
• CANDIDATES WITHOUT A BACKGROUND IN WORK BASED LEARNING OR TRAINING WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. 
• A DBS (formerly CRB) check prior to commencement of role is required.
